Shane Filan visits hmv to celebrate the release of his new album ‘Right Here’. After 44 million sales with Westlife and a #6 chart position for his debut solo album ‘You and Me’, Shane Filan returns with his eagerly anticipated second album ‘Right Here’.

Before even starting work on the album, Filan set himself an ambitious mission statement. “When I was with Westlife we’d perform songs which would make the whole place stand still, and you could hear a pin drop,” he explains. “I wanted to create those moments for myself with this album.” Filan dedicated himself to a huge songwriting process in which he wrote or co-wrote fifty songs from which the best seven would make up the bulk of his upcoming second album ‘Right Here’. The remaining three were picked as the elite choices from approximately 200 songs that he’d shortlisted from other writers. It was a laborious process, but one which was necessary to ensure their mission statement of delivering a collection of ten brilliant contemporary pop songs.

It’s particular evident in the album’s lead single ‘Me & The Moon’ which updates the special blend of powerful melodies, dramatic dynamics and soaring vocals that typified many of Filan’s finest moments with Westlife.  Filan also strived to deliver stronger songs that would fulfil his fans’ desire for more ballads. That stronger material resonates throughout ‘Right Here’ from the big duet ‘I Could Be’ to the back-to-basics emotion of ‘Right Here’ which ascends to new heights with the help of the London Community Gospel Choir.
