Sundown Festival has enjoyed phenomenal growth to become one of the UK’s best live-music events to end the summer festival season and recently announced they want to give something back by offering aspiring artists the chance to open the main stage for the whole event on Saturday 30 August.

With the likes of Chase & Status and Tinie Tempah set to headline Saturday’s main stage, with Zane Lowe, Katy B, Pusha T and Foxes also announced so far, the chosen new-comer will be opening the main stage for some of the UK’s biggest music artists.

A large number of hopefuls initially submitted a 15-second video of themselves, singing, via Instagram with the tag @sundownuk and the hashtag #IAmSundown2014. The best of these were invited to provide a longer demo which have been posted on Sundown’s social media channels and put to the public vote among Sundown festivalites.

The selected shortlist comprises 15-year old Katie Da Silva, Dominic de Uppiah, 33, Oliver Daldry, 19, Jodie Chipperfield, 19, John Galea, 26, and 23-year old Reeva, all of which can be heard and voted on here: http://bit.ly/IAmSundown2014VOTE.

The three videos with the most votes or ‘likes’ by 30 June will be shortlisted further and the final winner announced by the Sundown judging panel on 5th July. The lucky singer will be invited to perform the Saturday opening spot on the main stage.

Sundown’s Sunday main stage line-up will be headed by Ellie Goulding, with John Newman, Clean Bandit, Ella Eyre, Jess Glynne and Neon Jungle also confirmed to date.

Sundown’s Stage 2 will be hosted by House specialists Defected Records on the Saturday, with DJs MK, Breach, Sam Divine and Shadow Child, while drum and bass label RAM Records take over for the Sunday, with Andy C, Wilkinson, Calyx & Teebee and Delta Heavy confirmed so far.

Sundown Festival, recently the focus of BBC Three’s Festivals, Sex & Suspicious Parents, was launched in 2011 and has grown from 15,000 at the inaugural event, to 38,000 in 2013, when all camping tickets sold-out months before the festival kicked off. More than 70% of camping tickets available for this year’s event have already been sold.

Sundown Festival will take place at the Norfolk Showground from Friday 29 – Sunday 31 August. For tickets or more info, visit www.nationalboxoffice.co.uk, or call 0871 224 1113.

More details, including additional artists, will be announced in due course.
