Ed Sheeran has just released his new album, ‘-’ (Subtract), through Asylum/Atlantic. The album, which features 14 tracks, marks a return to Sheeran’s singer/songwriter roots and was written during a period of personal grief and hope.

In collaboration with Aaron Dessner from The National, Sheeran has pushed the boundaries of his songwriting, resulting in some of the most profound and vulnerable music of his career.

The album showcases a range of production techniques, from pared-back folk arrangements to full-band/orchestral sounds. Ahead of the album’s release, Sheeran dropped two tracks, ‘Eyes Closed’ and ‘Boat’, the latter of which is part of the album. ‘-’ (Subtract) reflects Sheeran’s honesty and vulnerability, providing a window into his deepest, darkest thoughts.

In his own words, Sheeran shares that the album represents his “therapy” and a way for him to make sense of his feelings. Sheeran will be kicking off Apple Music Live’s second season on May 10th, where he will showcase the album in full alongside a 12-piece band, including Aaron Dessner. Fans can stream the performance on-demand on Apple Music and Apple TV+.

The release of the album is accompanied by 14 official music videos on YouTube and an exclusive acoustic performance of ‘Eyes Closed’ on Ed’s After Party. Sheeran has established himself as one of the biggest success stories in the music industry with his previous albums, ‘+’, ‘x’, ‘÷’, ‘No.6 Collaborations Project’ and ‘=’.
