Gabrielle Aplin visits HMV to perform live and sign copies of her new album ‘Light Up The Dark’.

Co-written and produced by The Temperance Movement’s Luke Potashnick, Gabrielle Aplin releases her eagerly anticipated sophomore album ‘Light Up The Dark’. Album highlights include the synthesised brass stabs and pounding piano that feature on ‘Skeleton’; a pulse-stopping ballad rich with gospel-inspired backing vocals; and ‘Heavy Heart’, currently Aplin’s personal favourite, a bluesy groove that showcases the new depth and range of her voice, and which was recorded on a vintage microphone.

The new album was inspired by Joni Mitchell and the production on Feist’s ‘The Reminder’. “Her voice is just here, right at the front, and everything sits around it perfectly,” says Aplin. “I’ve also become much more comfortable writing songs about other people’s stories as well as my own, much of which is inspired by travelling and everything I’ve seen since my first album.”
