Monty Python have announce the re-release of their classic and much adored single ‘Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life’ with a brand new verse fitting for this year’s World Cup, should England fail to triumph. The single was released on June 8th through Virgin EMI.

Written by Eric Idle for the final sequence of Monty Python’s second feature film ‘The Life of Brian’ (1979), ‘Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life’ is probably the best-known and most popular Python song and has become established as a favourite sing-along at both funerals and sporting events. Its cheerfully stoic message found particular resonance with football fans and was initially adopted as a chant by fans of Sheffield Wednesday at the dawn of the 1990s, before becoming part of the repertoire of England fans experiencing deflating failures at major international tournaments.

Monty Python’s iconic album ‘Monty Python Sings’ is re-released on June 30th as ‘Monty Python Sings (again)’, on standard and deluxe two CD editions featuring three never before released songs and three new recordings, including the ‘Lousy Song’. The Python’s also release ‘Monty Python’s Total Rubbish: The Complete Collection’, their career spanning box set, on June 30th. The ultimate collector’s edition box set is available on CD and vinyl containing re-mastered versions of all nine UK-released Monty Python albums, a case bound book with foreword by Michael Palin, original artwork and archive photos, all housed in an original Terry Gilliam-designed slipcase.
