Open’er Festival returns to Gdynia’s Baltic coast from 30 June – 3 July 2027 with a huge first wave of names, announcing five headline acts that span generations and genres: Gen Z icon and popstar Sombr, jazz-inspired powerhouse RAYE, 90s alt-rock legends The Neighbourhood and the godmother of 70s punk and poetry Patti Smith. These four join the previously announced psychedelic titans Tame Impala, hailing from Western Australia, making this one of the festival’s most exciting and diverse line-ups to date.

Sombr

He’s been called Gen Z’s rockstar heir apparent, but Sombr is still, in many ways, Shane Boose, the kid who found his voice via a makeshift bedroom studio on the Lower East Side and who is, to this day, the sole writer (and co-producer) of his world-beating songs. The NYC native taught himself production and recorded by night while studying classical music and vocal performance at the prestigious, public LaGuardia High School.

Now, with a sticky mix of arena pop, indie yearn, and glam charisma, he documents young love with a smoldering vulnerability and depth celebrated around the globe. In 2025, his smash single “back to friends” hit #1 on Spotify’s Global and U.S. charts, also cracking the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10. His rapid rise is also reflected in his headline tours across North America, the U.K., Europe and Australia / New Zealand, which sell out instantly.

Sombr entered 2026 with a Best New Artist GRAMMY nod. He also released his debut album, I Barely Know Her, co-produced by the legendary Tony Berg (Phoebe Bridgers, The Replacements). Near-universal press raves followed, while three of the singles charted simultaneously on the Hot 100.

RAYE

RAYE is redefining modern pop music through raw storytelling, genre-defying sound, and record-breaking success. Since her 2014 debut EP, the 4-time GRAMMY-nominated and 7-time BRIT Award-winning British singer, songwriter, and producer has surpassed over 10 billion streams.

Her catalog, covering pop, R&B, hip-hop, gospel, jazz, big band, and dance, includes collaborations with Stormzy, Central Cee, David Guetta, Doja Cat, Mark Ronson and Disclosure, among others. A prolific songwriter, RAYE has also penned hits for icons such as Beyoncé, Charli xcx, Jennifer Lopez, and JADE.

Her 2023 debut album, My 21st Century Blues, achieved unprecedented critical and commercial success, with the single “Escapism” reaching the Top 10 in over 20 countries. After her one-night-only show at Royal Albert Hall – backed by a 50-piece orchestra and gospel choir – critics called her “the most talented artist since Adele and Amy Winehouse” (The Telegraph).

After her 2025 hit single “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!” took the world by storm, her new album This Music May Contain Hope topped the UK charts and was hailed as “pure audio spectacle that will have you screaming for an encore” (The Independent).

The Neighbourhood

Since 2011, California quintet The Neighbourhood, with Jesse Rutherford (vocals), Zach Abels (guitar), Jeremy Freedman (guitar), Mikey Margott (bass), and Brandon Fried (drums), have zigged and zagged past conventions and expectations.

Following the success of their platinum-selling debut I Love You and lead single “Sweater Weather”, they worked with everyone from YG to Denzel Curry, and graced top festivals.

With albums such as Wiped Out, The Neighbourhood, Chip Chrome & The Mono-Tones, as well as their 2025 release Ultrasound, The Neighbourhood have gained a cult following and established themselves as one of the most powerful names in contemporary indie-rock.

Patti Smith

Patti Smith is an acclaimed singer-songwriter, poet, painter, author, and photographer whose work helped shape the New York punk and art-rock scene of the 1970s and the decades that followed. Born in Chicago and raised in New Jersey, she was inspired by Beat poetry and artists such as Bob Dylan, James Brown, the Rolling Stones, and the Doors.

After moving to New York in 1967, she became involved in poetry, performance art, and underground theatre, while developing a creative partnership with guitarist Lenny Kaye.

Smith and Kaye evolved into the Patti Smith Group, whose early performances combined poetry, improvisation, and rock. Their 1974 single “Hey Joe”/“Piss Factory” preceded her groundbreaking 1975 debut album Horses. Albums including Radio Ethiopia, Easter, and Wave established her as an influential and unconventional rock artist, with “Because the Night” becoming her biggest commercial success.

Having stepped away from music for several years, Patti Smith returned with Gone Again in 1996. She continued releasing socially conscious and experimental music, including Peace and Noise, Gung Ho, and Banga.

Smith has also maintained a major literary and visual-art career, winning multiple awards, exhibiting photography, publishing poetry and memoirs, collaborating with a variety of artists, and receiving numerous honours, including induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Her later projects continued to combine music, literature, visual art, environmental concerns, and experimental performance.

Tame Impala

Tame Impala is the psychedelic project of Australian musician, songwriter and producer Kevin Parker, whose genre-blurring sound has made him one of the most influential artists of his generation. Across four acclaimed albums, including the Grammy-nominated Lonerism, Currents and The Slow Rush, Parker has continually reinvented Tame Impala’s sound, moving between psychedelic rock, synth-pop, disco and electronic music.

His fifth studio album, Deadbeat, released in October 2025, marked a new chapter, embracing club-inspired psychedelia, punchy electronics and a more spontaneous approach to songwriting. The album debuted at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart, while lead single “Dracula” topped the Australian Singles Chart.

Parker’s work has also earned Tame Impala two GRAMMY wins, most recently taking home Best Dance/Electronic Recording for “End Of Summer” at the 2026 GRAMMY Awards. Now bringing the Deadbeat era to the festival stage, Tame Impala will headline Open’er 2027, delivering Parker’s trademark immersive blend of psychedelia, electronics and hypnotic live visuals.
