Ahead of the 10th anniversary of Prince’s passing (April 21, 2026), Prince’s NPG Records, in partnership with Legacy Recordings, have released a new single and music video, “With This Tear” — a previously unreleased studio recording from Prince’s legendary vault, out now.
Listen to “With This Tear” HERE.
Recorded in November 1991 at Paisley Park, “With This Tear” has been newly mixed and mastered by GRAMMY-nominated engineer and producer Chris James, a former Prince collaborator whose credits include HITnRUN Phase Two, Art Official Age, and Plectrumelectrum. The track features Prince producing, arranging, composing and performing all instrumentation.
Shortly after its creation, Prince offered the song to Céline Dion, who recorded and released her own version in 1992. This release marks the first of several previously unheard recordings set to arrive this year as part of a never-before-released Prince album project.
The release coincides with the annual “A Day 2 Reflect | A Night 2 Remember” event, taking place on April 21 at Paisley Park, honouring the anniversary of Prince’s passing. Daytime programming includes public tours, a community gathering at the NPG Music Club featuring origami dove-making and a memorial fence, a curated listening lounge, and a candle-lighting ceremony at 4:21pm, which will also be livestreamed.
Evening events include a special Paisley Park walkthrough tour and a screening of Prince in Concert.
It also precedes the upcoming Prince Celebration: “10th Anniversary Celebration of Life”, a five-day global gathering taking place June 3–7, 2026 across Paisley Park and downtown Minneapolis.
Recently announced highlights include live performances, exclusive access to unreleased music, rare concert screenings, immersive fan experiences, and panels featuring Prince’s closest collaborators, alongside tributes to iconic albums including Parade, Emancipation, The Rainbow Children, Chaos and Disorder, and 3121.
Signature events include the Downtown Block Party at the Prince Mural, featuring a free, all-ages sing-along on June 6, where thousands of fans will gather for a large-scale tribute led by a live band and mass choir.
For the first time, members of NPG and The Revolution will celebrate Prince together on stage, including Bobby Z and Lisa Coleman, alongside Morris Hayes, Tevin Campbell, Tony M, Levi Seacer, Sonny T, Cora Coleman, Cassandra O’Neal, Greg Boyer and Kenni Holmen.
Special guest performers include Chaka Khan, Morris Day, Miguel, Kat Graham, Tevin Campbell, Sounds of Blackness, Bilal and El DeBarge, with more to be announced.
Additional appearances include Kris Kollins, lead of the Purple Rain Musical, alongside The New Artist Showcase, spotlighting the next generation of talent inspired by Prince’s legacy. The week also sees the return of the DJ Dance Kickoff at First Avenue and a full programme of events at Paisley Park.
Throughout the week, attendees will experience exclusive presentations of unreleased material and rare archival content, offering deeper insight into Prince’s creative process. VIP experiences will include guided tours, curated dining, a Sunday Gospel Brunch, and additional intimate programming.
Single concert tickets go on sale to the public on Earth Day, April 22. For more information, visit: ticket page.
