One of the UK’s most distinctive voices, Ella Eyre, is back with her bold new single “red flags & love hearts”, lifted from her highly anticipated second album everything, in time — out November 21st via Play It Again Sam.

A Song Born From Reflection

Drenched in harmony-rich doo-wop and echoing the influence of her idol Lauryn Hill, the track is both poignant and powerful. Its title comes from a moment in therapy, with Ella turning the phrase into a bittersweet anthem about how we sometimes romanticise warning signs in relationships.

“I remember talking to my therapist about this boy and he said, ‘you know, it’s like that saying: why do red flags look like love hearts?’ I’d never heard it before, but it was so true — and so visual. We see the problems so clearly, and yet somehow we still romanticise them,” Ella explains.

The result is a hook-laden single that blends honesty, vulnerability, and self-awareness — and sets the tone for an album full of raw emotional truth.

Building Momentum

“red flags & love hearts” follows a string of standout singles including:

  • “space” — a fiery breakup anthem
  • “high on the internet” (ft. Jay Prince) — a sharp take on digital burnout
  • “domino szn” — a silky, soul-pop confidence boost
  • “kintsugi” — a graceful, introspective ballad

Each track has paved the way for everything, in time — a 15-song collection that captures Ella at her most fearless and authentic.

A Decade in the Making

It’s been 10 years since Eyre’s Top 4 debut Feline. Since then, she’s navigated chart-topping collaborations, vocal surgery during lockdown, and parting ways with her former label to take ownership of her music.

Now 31, she’s reclaimed her sound, drawing from soul, R&B, retro funk, and bold pop influences to create an album that’s entirely hers.

“There was a moment when I just said, ‘This doesn’t feel right – scrap it all,’” she recalls. “This album feels like something I’m really proud of. And even though it’s taken a long time to get here, I believe good things come to those who wait.”
