ITV today announced The Nightly Show, a brand new week night entertainment series transmitting in 2017 with award-winning comedian and writer David Walliams hosting the first week.

The 30-minute daily entertainment show going out in the 10pm slot is being produced for ITV by Second Act Productions and will see the series stripped over five nights a week for an eight-week run, featuring a different big name host each week.

David Walliams will be in the hot seat for the launch week with more high profile names to be announced soon.

Walliams said: “I am thrilled to be the first host for this brand new show for ITV.”

The famous faces hosting the show during the eight-week run will oversee a high tempo mixture of topical monologue, studio games, celebrity guests, experts and VT’s.

The Nightly Show will be recorded ‘as live’ each day at 6pm in a converted studio at a central London location.

Peter Davey, ITV’s Head Of Comedy Entertainment said: “We’re really excited about launching this bold new show, and delighted that David will kick off what will be an eight-week entertainment treat for viewers.”

Second Act Productions said: “We’re thrilled that David had agreed to kick off the series by hosting week one of The Nightly Show. He’s a major talent and will set the tone of what we hope will be a very exciting series.”

The Nightly Show is a Second Act Production for ITV. Executive Producers are Katie Taylor and Lee Hupfield and was commissioned by Peter Davey, ITV’s Head of Comedy Entertainment.
