Since bursting onto the music scene and straight into viewers’ hearts on The X Factor in 2012, singer-songwriter Lucy Spraggan has solidified her status as a master storyteller and one of the key voices of her generation.
With her unique style of hip-hop/folk-tinged pop she effortlessly switches from sincere and inspiring ballads to witty and bawdy ditties. The emotively intimate nature of her lyrics is winningly universalised with infectious singalong choruses. When Lucy and her dedicated fanbase call out in unison “we won’t abandon this ship / we are, we are unsinkable”, it is a rousing sight (and sound) to behold!

Pop Scoop! sat down to have an in-depth chat with Lucy Spraggan right before her mid-tour gig at The Waterfront in Norwich. She gave us the full lowdown about her recent engagement (!!), how she started out in music, her major influences, what it was like on The X Factor, developing a bigger and more mature sound for third album “We Are”, and the stories behind new songs such as “The Postman” and “Uninspired”.
