Shawn Mendes, who took the music world by storm this past year with his debut single “Life of The Party” and his iTunes #1 EP, announced his debut album Handwritten, in addition to a 14-date international and US tour run, on NBC’s Today Show.

The album will feature hit singles Life Of The Party and Something Big, in addition to new songs crafted by Mendes in writing sessions on his tour bus over the course of the past year, including production by Martin Terefe, as well as songs with Life Of The Party co-writers Ido Zmishlany & Scott Harris.  An exclusive deluxe edition book is available for pre-order starting today on Shawn’s official website www.shawnmendesofficial.com.

Shawn is one of MTV’s 2015 Artists To Watch, in addition to being selected to be a part of Vevo’s emerging artists program, LIFT.  Vevo is the world’s leading all-premium music video and entertainment platform with over nine billion monthly views globally.  Fans can visit Vevo’s apps, Vevo.com and syndication partner web sites for the opportunity to get to know Shawn through exclusive interviews, performance videos and behind-the-scenes footage.

Following his debut album release and US headlining tour, Shawn will join Taylor Swift on 24 dates of her sold-out 1989 Tour between May and October 2015.

Shawn’s 2014 career-defining hit “Life of The Party” vaulted to #1 on iTunes in the US less than one hour after its release in June, and sold over 150,000 copies in its first week, making Shawn the youngest artist ever to land in the Billboard Hot100’s Top 25 with a debut single. Within 24 hours of its release and #1 debut, there were over 2 million mentions of “Life of The Party” on Twitter. “Life of The Party” charted inside the iTunes Top 5 in 28 countries (including the UK, Brazil, Sweden, and Norway) and Top 10 in another 38 countries.

“Life of The Party” was the lynchpin of Shawn’s self-titled 4-song debut EP that took over the iTunes #1 position less than 30 minutes after its release in the US in July and went straight into the Top 5 on the iTunes Chart in the UK.

Shawn, hailed as “Music’s First Vine Star” by Billboard, and one of Time Magazine’s most influential teens of 2014, was also crowned “The real deal” by Teen Vogue, transitioned from teen viral online sensation to full-fledged industry best-seller in July after being discovered by artist manager Andrew Gertler and signed to Island Records US. He has performed live on Good Day New York, Good Morning America, Live with Kelly & Michael, and Jimmy Kimmel Live! He also performed on and was interviewed by Ellen.  Shawn has also featured on The Vamps Oh Cecilia (Breaking My Heart), and joined them on stage at Radio 1’s Teen Awards.

Shawn, just 16-years-old, has accumulated over 43 million YouTube views as his clips have spread across Vine (over 3.6 million followers), YouTube (1.2 million subscribers), Instagram (over 2.5 million followers), Twitter (over 2.5 million followers), Facebook (over 1.2 million likes), and every online social outlet imaginable.  Heading into 2015, Shawn is just getting started, writing and recording his own music, and growing into one of our brightest new stars.
