Justin Bieber performs during The "Believe" Tour featuring Carly Rae Jepsen in Philadelphia, PA

Justin Bieber has apologised for making comments about Lindsay Lohan’s financial problems.

The Canadian superstar says he didn’t mean to insult the 26-year-old troubled actress after his rant on Instagram, attempting to defend his recent bad behaviour, during which he said: “And to those comparing me to Lindsey Lohan look at her 2012 tax statements.”

The star who’s post was deleted within minutes of being published and replaced with the reference to Lindsay removed, told TMZ.com: “My post was only up for a few minutes but I realised right away that what I said at the end was wrong and distracted from what I was trying to say.

“I immediately deleted it and rewrote it so it would show what I was really feeling and those words are up now.”

Despite Bieber’s apology, sources close to Lindsay have told TMZ that she’s “appalled” by his comments, branding them “senseless and mean.”
