Robbie Williams will be embarking on his first solo stadium tour for seven years next year, with X Factor runner-up Olly Murs as his support act.

The tour begins on June 19 and runs for 17 dates in total, travelling across the UK and Europe. The Angels singer said that the tour is his way of securing his place ‘in pop history’, and that he wanted to put on a show of ‘great magnitude while I still can’.

He said: “It’s legacy time. The album’s called Take The Crown and I want to seal my place in pop history and deliver a tour of great magnitude while I still can.

“I’m very excited. I’ve been lethargic for the last couple of albums and it didn’t look like I was bothered — but I am really bothered now.

“There are many reasons why I’m back and I’m ambitious again and I’ve got the energy. TAKE THAT is a big one and my baby is another one.”

When asked how he feels about Radio 1’s refusal to play his single ‘Candy’, He said: “Nick Grimshaw was unfairly lambasted. He said I might be irrelevant to 14 and 16-year-olds, and he might be right.

“Radio 1 have been incredibly supportive of me, even when I’ve been s***, so I thank them.”
